Kufri is a famous ski resort of Himachal,
located at a distance of 16 km from Shimla
on the national highway 22. It is also famous
for trekking and hiking trails. It consists
of beautiful nature parks and picnic spots.
A whole lot of winter sports are hosted
here. It also has a Potato Research Institute.
In 1864, Shimla became the summer capital
of the British Raj. Soon Kufri also became
a famous destination.

for the various recreation activities it
offers ranging from hiking and trekking
to skiing and tobogganing. Its snow covered
slopes make it a skiing paradise. A lot
of foreign tourists also visit Kufri who
are unable to afford the expensive vacations
to the ski slopes of the Swiss Alps or the
Colorado.

lasts till the end of February. The winter
sports festival is held in the month of
February every year. The slopes are ideal
for beginners.

Excursions in Kurfi
The famous excursions from Kufri are Shimla
(16 km) and Fagu (6 km). Kufri is situated
at an altitude of 2510 meters and the best
time to visit is from April to June and
from November to February.
